Have you ever heard of the power of I AM? Or affirmations? Well if not let me be the first to tell you that using affirmations can and most likely will change your life!
If you’re new to the whole affirmations thing, let me enlighten if you will, on what an affirmation is. Very simply, an affirmation is anything you tell yourself about yourself. Or anything you speak and/or think Is basically affirming that it is true and therefor fact. Using positive affirmations can change your life in ways that I can’t even begin to tell (not even in this blog post) that’s how powerful (and amazing) affirmations are.
I will be the first to tell you when I first started on this journey to self-discovery, wanting to do and be better. Wanting and really just needing a positive change in my life I started reading these amazing books by Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay and what I found to be prevalent in many of the books I read from these amazing authors was the use and power of affirmations. Admittedly, I was skeptical initially. I mean how is it possible that an affirmation can really do anything to change my life? But much to my surprise it does. When you think of yourself, what comes to mind? I know it’s hard to “think of ourselves” most of us are selfless by nature. But when you think of yourself, your attributes, your goals, dreams, traits, or anything positive about yourself. What do you think? Is it hard for you to think (even to yourself?)
- I am intelligent
- I am loving
- I am caring
- I am successful
When we use affirmations in positive ways like the ones I said right above. You affirm that about yourself. You create that exactly for yourself. It helps you look at yourself more positively which will allow you to live a life that is more fulfilling.
Thinking positively this way 1st thing in the morning and throughout the day will help you feel good, sets the tone for the day and keeps you positive. When you do it right before bed you go to sleep feeling amazing which helps you rest better and so you wake up on the right side of the bed. You can also try saying some things you are grateful for. Feeling gratitude before bed helps also. (That was a little side note lol)
You can try writing down some affirmations and placing them in places you will most likely see them and be reminded of your greatness when you need it. A mirror, a wall, on the refrigerator.
Here are some affirmations to get you started: (you can do this)!
- I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness
- I am becoming the best version of myself
- I am free of worry and I am at peace
- I am brave, fearless, bold and strong
- I am enough
Now try some of your own. See what you can come up with!
